Beverly

While in Snowshoe WV, my mom, my new friend Lisa, Valerie, and I all made the hour drive to visit the historic town of Beverly.
It was such a fun and lovely day.
We packed a picnic lunch and started our drive down the mountain.
We stopped at a museum where they had cake and ice cream for West Virginia day.
This beautiful old bank (love the subway tile) is a part of the museum.

Then we headed over to an antique shop. They specialized in antique textiles. I should have bought something.
The house served as a hospital during the civil war. The man who restored it (who we talked with later) had uncovered grafitti by the soldiers. They had them framed so you could read them.
We asked the owner where a good spot for a picnic was, and she told us to eat on her porch! So we pulled up some antique chairs and she brought out a tablecloth and we enjoyed our lunch. Then we ran next door and got some cake too! It was pretty cool to sit and eat where soldiers once probably did the same.

Then we headed over to the Lemuel Chenoweth museum.

It was HOT. I mean hot! I think I melted a little. Here are some more pics from our journey. (You can click on all the pics to make them bigger.)

Notice the missing ear on the kitty. I'm guessing the winters are pretty cold here too.

I have been so busy with the family room remodel, I haven't had time to post. It's almost done though!
The floors will be installed on Tuesday, so we are in "crunch time" to get everything finished!

A Scooter Named Desire

I really want this Scooter.

I stare at it longingly a few times throughout the day.

I imagine myself riding into town on this. Zipping off to farmers markets, antique shops, and garage sales.

Long live 3-day weekends

I guess my weekend is technically a 4-day, but Dave has to be home for it to count as a weekend day.
We had fun in the pool. Valerie loves the water! She is my little water baby, crawling and splashing all around. And notice the curls coming out? I might have 2 curly kids on my hands!

Grant loves to slide down his slide into the pool.

We also went to the Powell Memorial Day parade. It was a lot of fun! Grant was on overload, there was just so much to look at and so much candy to pick up! It was so cute watching him get all the candy.

Lazy days on a quilt in the backyard.

Dave baked a cake and Grant and I decorated it for our cookout we had this evening at the in-laws.

What a great weekend!

New Lens

Wow, we've been so busy. May is such a crazy month! I've got lots of new plants going, can't wait to show pics!

I was sick as a dog on Mother's day (and so was my mom). :(
I'm on my 2nd round of antibiotics and Grant is now on his 3rd round. If this round doesn't work for him, it looks like a chest x-ray and an allergist may be in his future. Let's hope this round works!

So I got the new lens I've been wanting for Mother's Day!

It's a 50mm.
It's pretty cool.
I was trying it out yesterday before things got too wild . And they did get wild.

Gotta love the sunscreen all over Valerie's face! But I'm loving the new lens!

We found this little robin egg. I love the color. Who knows how it ended up here in the mulch. There were no nests to be seen and the egg was in perfect condition.

Ok, off to paint the mantel!
